First Impressions

Apartament Dodo sits right on Bulevardul 1 Decembrie 1918, one of those main arteries that actually feels like the real Cluj-Napoca rather than some touristy bubble. When I first walked up to the building, I’ll be honest — it doesn’t scream “hotel” from the outside, which is sort of the point. This four-star apartment setup feels more like staying at a friend’s really well-appointed place than checking into somewhere corporate.

The Space Itself

The room I stayed in was genuinely spacious — and I mean actually spacious, not just “spacious for Europe” spacious. You know what surprised me? The kitchen was fully functional, with real appliances you’d actually want to use. I ended up cooking breakfast there a couple mornings because, honestly, sometimes you just want your coffee exactly how you like it. The whole setup feels residential in the best possible way, with enough storage space that you can actually unpack instead of living out of your suitcase.

Location & Getting Around

Here’s the thing about this location — you’re walking distance from the historical center, but you’re also in a neighborhood where actual locals live and work. There’s a decent grocery store about three blocks away (trust me, you’ll want to stock that kitchen), and the bus connections are solid if you need to get to other parts of the city. I walked to the main square in about fifteen minutes, which meant I could escape the tourist crowds whenever I wanted.

What Actually Works

The Wi-Fi is fast enough that I could actually work from there without wanting to throw my laptop out the window. The shower has proper water pressure — you’d be amazed how often that’s not a given. There’s decent parking nearby, though I’d recommend asking about it when you book if you’re driving. The whole place just feels thoughtfully put together, like someone actually considered what travelers need rather than what looks good in photos.

Why Guests Love It

Look, this isn’t going to be everyone’s cup of tea if you want someone bringing you fresh towels every day or a fancy restaurant downstairs. But if you appreciate having your own space, cooking when you feel like it, and staying somewhere that feels authentic to the city you’re visiting, Apartament Dodo really delivers. That 9.2 rating makes sense when you consider you’re getting the independence of an apartment with the reliability of a proper accommodation. It’s particularly great if you’re staying more than just a night or two — the kind of place where you can actually settle in.

  This is a very nice apartment located about 15 minutes walk from the Cluj Arena football pitch. The apartment is in an old building, but it is very nice renovated. The parking spot reserved for the apartment is a big plus, if you travel by car to Cluj. The kitchen is big and clean and you have everything you need to no be able to cook. The host is amazing, very nice and warm and friendly and also very helpful. I recommend this place if you want to stay in Cluj. Bus station is near by and you also have a supermarket and other shops next to it.
