First Impressions
When I first pulled up to Damasi Apartments on Strada Oltului, I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect — the name suggests something pretty straightforward, but this four-star property actually surprised me in the best way. The building has this clean, modern look that fits right into Cluj-Napoca’s evolving cityscape, and you know what really caught my attention? There’s dedicated parking right on site, which anyone who’s driven around Romanian cities will tell you is basically gold.
Location & Getting Around
The location is honestly fantastic — I mean, couples rate this place super highly for romantic getaways, and I can see why. You’re close enough to Cluj’s historic center that you can walk to the main attractions, but far enough out that you’re not dealing with the weekend party crowds. The Oltului area has this nice residential feel with plenty of cafes and local spots nearby. I found myself grabbing coffee at this little place just down the street most mornings, watching the city wake up. The neighborhood truly captures the essence of modern Cluj living.
The Apartment Experience
Here’s where Damasi really shines — each apartment feels like you’re staying in someone’s well-designed home rather than a typical hotel room. The spaces are genuinely spacious, with separate living areas that make longer stays actually comfortable. The kitchen setup is proper too, not just some tiny corner with a mini-fridge. I ended up cooking a few meals because, well, the local markets in Cluj are amazing and it felt natural to bring some fresh produce back. This flexibility is what makes the property special.
What Sets It Apart
The staff here gets it — they’re helpful without being hovering, and they actually know the neighborhood well enough to give you real recommendations. The apartments themselves are kept immaculately clean, and the design feels contemporary without being cold or sterile. What I really appreciated was how quiet everything was; the building seems well-insulated, so even though you’re in the city, you can actually get proper rest. The Wi-Fi is solid throughout, which matters when you’re trying to plan your days or catch up on work.
Why Guests Love It
Look, I’ve stayed in plenty of places around Romania, and Damasi hits this sweet spot between independence and service that’s harder to find than you’d think. The combination of that prime location, the apartment-style setup, and the free parking creates this perfect storm for couples or anyone wanting more space than a standard hotel offers. You get the privacy and comfort of your own place with the reliability of professional hospitality. Plus, Cluj-Napoca itself is such an underrated city — great food scene, beautiful architecture, and way less touristy than Bucharest or Brașov. Recent guests consistently praise the value and experience here.
