When I first walked up to the building on Strada Bogdan Petriceicu Hasdeu, I wasn’t sure what to expect from a three-star place, but honestly, the modern facade caught me off guard in the best way possible.

The Apartment Experience

Here’s the thing about Ego HOME — it’s not your typical hotel setup. Each apartment feels more like staying in a friend’s well-designed place than some cookie-cutter hotel room. The spaces are surprisingly spacious, and I mean actually spacious, not just “spacious for Europe” spacious. The kitchen is fully equipped, which saved me a fortune on dining out (Cluj’s restaurant scene is great, but your wallet appreciates a break sometimes).

Location & Getting Around

You’re about a 15-minute walk from the historic center, which actually works out perfectly — close enough to easily reach Piața Unirii and the main sights, but far enough away that you escape the tourist crowds at the end of the day. There’s decent parking nearby, though like most European cities, I’d honestly recommend just walking or using the local buses. The neighborhood has this lived-in feel with small cafés and shops that locals frequent.

What Makes It Special

The attention to detail surprised me — everything from the quality of the linens to the way the apartments are laid out feels thoughtful rather than rushed. The staff genuinely seems to care about your experience, and they’re quick to help with local recommendations that go beyond the usual tourist traps. I mean, where else would I have learned about that amazing papanași place tucked away in the student quarter?

Why Guests Love It

That 9.7 rating isn’t just impressive numbers — it actually reflects the experience. You get the independence of having your own space with the support of hotel-style service when you need it. It’s particularly great if you’re staying more than a couple nights, since having a proper kitchen and living area makes Cluj feel less like a place you’re just passing through and more like somewhere you can actually settle in for a bit.

  The room is clean, very comfortable, and has everything you need. Additionally, the hotel has a great rooftop terrace with a view over the city, where you can sit to enjoy the sun. We stayed here twice and would definitely come back.
  
  What could be improved: Due to the open shower, the bathrooms get quite wet when using the shower. However, this was never that big of an issue for us.

  The host was very courteous and responsive to my questions and was willing to help me as much as possible with my stay. The room had a very authentic atmosphere merging minimalism with elegance, and I also adored the veranda. Overall the place had great value for its money.
