Walking up to Hope on Strada Virgil Fulicea, you’ll notice it doesn’t scream for attention — which is honestly part of its charm. This four-star hotel sits quietly in a residential area of Cluj-Napoca, and from the outside, it looks more like a well-designed boutique property than your typical business hotel. The entrance is understated but welcoming, with clean lines and warm lighting that immediately puts you at ease.

The Neighborhood Feel

Here’s what I love about the location — you’re actually in a real Romanian neighborhood, not some touristy bubble. There’s a small market just around the corner where locals do their shopping, and you’ll hear more Romanian than English on the streets, which feels authentic. The historic center is maybe a 15-minute walk, but honestly, I enjoyed the stroll through the quieter residential streets. You get to see how people actually live in Cluj-Napoca, not just the postcard version.

Inside Your Room

The room I stayed in was surprisingly spacious for a mid-range property — I mean, you’re not tripping over furniture to get to the bathroom. The design feels contemporary without being cold, with warm wood accents and actually comfortable beds (not always a given, you know?). The shower has proper water pressure, which might sound basic but trust me, after a day of walking around the city, you’ll appreciate it.

Daily Comforts

Breakfast happens in their small restaurant area, and while it’s not elaborate, they do a solid job with local touches — fresh bread, good coffee, and some Romanian specialties alongside the usual European hotel fare. The staff here actually remembers your name after a day or two, which creates this nice, personal atmosphere you don’t often find in larger hotels. There’s also secure parking available, which is genuinely helpful since Cluj-Napoca’s old town streets can be tricky to navigate with a car.

  The location of the apartment is fantastic. The apartment is next to the pedestrian street.
  A short walking distance from the old city square with a wide variety of restaurants and cafes and tourist attractions.
  The apartment is very big and beautiful. Well equipped and includes three large rooms: 2 bedrooms, guest room and kitchen. The apartment is in a private complex that includes several apartments and parking.

  Fabulous location right near the city centre and great to have a parking space behind a gate and fence. The apartment is spacious and has everything you need, although we didn’t use the kitchen so I can’t really comment on whether it was well equipped. The shower was excellent. We found it pretty quiet. The instructions for access were very clear and easy to follow. We would definitely stay again.
  
  What could be improved: The curtains in one of the bedrooms were very light and you could see through them from the street when the lights were on at night. It would be great to see these replaced with darker curtains.
