When I first walked into Iris Vivo Mall, I’ll be honest — I wasn’t expecting much from a hotel connected to a shopping center. But this place actually surprised me. The lobby has this clean, contemporary feel that’s more boutique than chain hotel, and the staff genuinely seemed happy to see guests arrive. You know what struck me most? How quiet it was inside, despite being right in the heart of Cluj-Napoca’s busiest shopping district.

Location & Shopping Perks

Here’s the thing about staying at a mall hotel — it sounds weird until you realize how practical it actually is. You’re literally connected to Vivo Mall, which means restaurants, cafes, and shops are just an elevator ride away. I mean, if you need anything from groceries to last-minute gifts, you don’t even have to step outside. The location on Strada Valea Gârbăului puts you close enough to the city center but far enough out to avoid the tourist crowds that can overwhelm Cluj’s old town.

The Room Experience

The room I stayed in was surprisingly spacious for a four-star property. Clean lines, comfortable bed, and — this matters more than you’d think — excellent blackout curtains that actually work. The bathroom was modern with good water pressure, though nothing fancy. What I appreciated most was the soundproofing; even with the mall below, I never heard any noise from shopping activities or other guests.

Dining & Amenities

The hotel’s own restaurant serves decent Romanian and international dishes, though honestly, with the mall’s food court and several standalone restaurants downstairs, you’ve got plenty of options. The fitness center is small but well-equipped — perfect for a quick workout if you’ve been indulging in too much Romanian comfort food. There’s also secure parking available, which is actually a big deal in Cluj where finding a spot can be a real headache.

Why Guests Love It

Look, this isn’t going to be the most charming hotel you’ll ever stay in — it’s not trying to be. What it offers is solid comfort, practical amenities, and genuine value for money. The 8.6 rating makes sense when you consider what most travelers actually need: a clean, quiet place to sleep, easy access to food and shopping, and staff who know what they’re doing. It works especially well if you’re in Cluj for business or as a base for exploring Transylvania without the premium prices of downtown boutique hotels.

  A wonderful apartment with beautiful furniture, everything is fresh and very clean, a convenient settlement, and a beautiful, well-kept area of the town. There is a pleasant atmosphere and friendly people live there.
  I made a reservation for my 4 colleagues and 5 dogs (!) They are all completely satisfied. I am very grateful to the owners for allowing accommodation with animals, it is valuable.
  Communication with the host was convenient, and all explanations and videos on how to get to the apartment were provided.
  Below I will write a negative point, but it will not affect the rating, because I really hope that this is an "exception to the rules".
  
  What could be improved: Pay attention.
  1) It will be difficult for travelers with large cars (jeep, minivan, or car with a trunk box on top) to park in the underground parking lot. It is not intended for entry of tall cars. Also, the parking space allocated for this apartment is very tight there. Tourists should be informed about this. There was too little space in the yard and it was at an angle. We also had a misunderstanding, because our car with a full trunk drove into the parking lot without any problems, but when it was empty and 3 cm higher, we caught the frame when leaving.
  2) We also had an unpleasant situation when a colleague forgot a jacket in the closet. I wrote to the host about sending to friends. For 1 month, the host did not respond to WhatsApp messages. He read them and ignored them. This is very rude and unexpected. Since Arsan was always in touch during the stay and responded immediately. Of course, forgotten things are not his responsibility, but answering messages is his. Perhaps someone from the staff did not tell the manager about the found item, took it or threw it away, we did not receive it. But it was easier for Arsan to ignore these messages than to find out what happened and respond.

  We were looking last minute for something away from the city, close to the express route, so it was perfect for us. The flat is very spacious and pretty, self check in and a good instruction makes it easy for late night arrivers to enter the accommodation. The bed is big and comfortable, although it would be nice to have two duvets for two people. There is also an underground parking lot, so we felt safe about our car. There is a grocery shop in the building, so it's easy to grab something for breakfast.
  
  What could be improved: I had a feeling the flat wasn't entirely clean. It was clean enough, just with some flaws. The toilet paper was missing, the toilet seat was a bit broken (it's not attached to the wall properly). Contact via other communicators than Booking and location different than described in the offer made me feel insecure, but it was fine in the end and the instruction movies made the check in easy.
