First Impressions

Mid City Apartments sits right on Bulevardul Eroilor, which honestly couldn’t be a better spot if you tried. I mean, you’re literally in the heart of Cluj-Napoca but tucked away from the main tourist chaos. The building itself has that solid Eastern European charm — nothing flashy, but you know it’s been here a while and seen some stories.

The Space

What caught me off guard was how spacious each apartment actually is. You’re not getting some cramped hotel room here — these are proper living spaces with a full kitchen that’s actually equipped for cooking, not just reheating leftovers. The furnishings are simple but functional, and there’s this nice balance between feeling homey without being cluttered. Plus, the windows are generous, so you get plenty of natural light streaming in during the day.

Location & Neighborhood

Here’s what I love about the location — you can walk to the main square in about ten minutes, but you’re not dealing with the noise and crowds right outside your window. The boulevard itself is tree-lined and pleasant for evening strolls, and there’s a good mix of locals and visitors around. You’ll find a decent restaurant scene within walking distance, from traditional Romanian spots to more international options that cater to Cluj-Napoca’s growing expat community.

The Experience

This three-star place punches above its weight class — that 9.3 rating isn’t just lucky numbers. The staff actually remembers your name after a day or two, which is refreshing in a world of automated check-ins. There’s reliable WiFi throughout (trust me, I tested it), and the whole building feels well-maintained without being stuffy. The parking situation is sorted too, which anyone who’s tried to park in Cluj-Napoca’s old town will appreciate.

  Access to the keys was easy through the lock box especially as we arrived very late at night. Easy and convenient again to drop the keys there upon check out.
  
  What could be improved: The passage going to the main entrance needed a bit of tidying up as there seemed to be some building works happening at that time. Also, the main lock to the entrance was faulty so not always secure. But I am sure all of these are being taking care of.

  The accommodation was very comfortable and well appointed. It is located in the heart of the old town in Cluj and is close to all amenities, including shops, great bars and fabulous restaurants. The host was always on the end on the phone or email to help with any queries.
  
  What could be improved: The entrance to the property is found down a small alley way which was housing building materials and the ground was uneven, so pick your steps especially if it is dark. But this didn't take away from the overall experience of staying at the apartments which was great!

  Large apartment (all rooms), with high ceilings and large windows with screens, inside a former military barracks or headquarters building. Secure street entrances and apartment door. Just inside the pedestrian area near one of the historic city squares. Bars, restaurants, coffee shops, convenience and grocery stores nearby. AC, instant coffee machine, tv and washer worked fine. Hosts were communicative, flexible, and helpful with local suggestions. Reasonably quiet, upper floor. Definitely recommend staying there, and would do so again myself.
