First Impressions

Walking into Union Square Apartment 2 by NUX feels more like arriving at a friend’s stylish place than checking into a typical hotel. Located right on Piața Unirii — which locals just call Union Square — you’re literally in the heart of Cluj-Napoca’s historic center. The building itself has that classic Romanian architecture you see all over the old town, but inside it’s been completely modernized without losing its character.

Location & Getting Around

Honestly, you can’t get more central than this. The square is where locals meet for coffee and where most walking tours start, so you’ll constantly see people heading off to explore the city. St. Michael’s Church is maybe a two-minute walk, and the main pedestrian street (Strada Republicii) is right there. I mean, you’re close enough to hear the church bells if you leave your windows open, but it’s not disruptive — actually kind of charming.

The Apartment Setup

This four-star apartment is surprisingly spacious for being right in the center. The kitchen is properly equipped — not just a mini-fridge and microwave situation — so you can actually cook if you pick up ingredients from the market nearby. The living area connects naturally to everything else, and there’s enough room to spread out your stuff without feeling cramped. The wifi works well throughout, which matters if you’re trying to work remotely or just upload photos.

Daily Life & Practical Stuff

What I really appreciated was how easy everything felt. There’s a small grocery store literally across the square if you need basics, and the farmer’s market happens twice a week right outside your door. Parking can be tricky in the old town — well, it’s tricky everywhere in Cluj — but they help you figure out where to leave your car if you’re driving. The trams and buses all pass through Union Square, so getting to other parts of the city is straightforward.

Why Guests Love It

You know what makes this place work? It’s that balance between being right in the action but still feeling like you have your own space. You can grab morning coffee from one of the cafes below, walk to pretty much any restaurant in the old town, or just sit by your window and watch Cluj life happen in the square.   Nice place right in the city center. Clean and nice with all the facilities.
  
  The owner waited for us in at the place in order to tell us that he has a problem with the heating but he moves us in the other apartament, a bigger one, just right next door. Thanks a lot.

  It is well placed, in downtown Cluj, and has a few parking spots, usually available. The host was helpful and pleasant. The room is big and comfy. There is a coffee machine and coffee available.
  
  What could be improved: It would benefit from having a second nightstand, for the other side of the bed.

  It is a spacious apartment with a nice bed and the possibility to walk 2 minutes to the lovely center. Shower pressure was good. Clean sheets.
  
  What could be improved: Parking in the center was handy but it was difficult to reach, we needed more instructions perhaps. The bathroom is small and was collecting a lot of water. Plain decor.
