Augusta Overview

First Impressions

Walking up to Augusta on strada Clinicilor, you immediately notice this isn’t your typical business hotel. The building has this understated elegance that feels refreshing in Cluj-Napoca — no flashy signs or overwhelming lobby, just clean lines and that confident simplicity you get with a well-run four-star place. I mean, the location might seem a bit clinical at first (pun intended, given the street name), but honestly, that’s part of what makes it work so well.

The Neighborhood Advantage

Here’s what I love about this spot — you’re actually in one of Cluj’s quieter residential areas, which means you’ll sleep properly without the usual city center chaos. The nearby medical district keeps things professional during the day, but it’s never overwhelming. You can walk to the main university area in about fifteen minutes, and there’s decent parking nearby, which anyone who’s driven in Romanian city centers will appreciate. Plus, the locals around here tend to speak English pretty well, so you won’t be stuck with awkward hand gestures when asking for directions.

Inside Experience

The room I stayed in was… well, it felt like someone actually thought about how people live. None of that cramped European hotel nonsense where you can barely open your suitcase. The bed was properly comfortable, and they’ve got this nice balance between modern amenities and not overdoing it with unnecessary tech. The bathroom actually had decent water pressure too — you know how hit-or-miss that can be in older Romanian buildings.

Daily Rhythms

Breakfast happens in their small restaurant, and while it’s not going to blow your mind, it covers all the basics with some local touches that show they’re paying attention. The staff genuinely seems to care about getting things right rather than just going through the motions. I noticed they remember your preferences after a couple of days, which is something you don’t always get even at pricier places. The whole operation feels… thoughtful, I guess.

Why Guests Love It

Look, Augusta isn’t trying to be the flashiest hotel in Cluj — it’s just doing the fundamentals really well. You get that 9.3 rating because people appreciate when a place delivers exactly what it promises without any unpleasant surprises. The value feels honest, the location works better than you’d initially think, and you’re not paying for a bunch of amenities you’ll never use. Sometimes that’s exactly what you need, especially if you’re actually here to explore the city rather than hang out in your hotel all day.

Reviews of Augusta

  • Stylish, spacious apartment with beautifully renovated kitchen and bathroom – Daria from United States – July 6, 2025 (10/10)

Very spacious and beautifully decorated apartment near the center of Cluj. We enjoyed the well-equipped kitchen with a full-sized refrigerator and all the necessary kitchen supplies. The beautifully renovated bathroom was very comfortable. The gentleman who met us helpfully showed us around the apartment and explained its features.

What could be improved: Although not a big problem for us, one should be aware that the main bedroom is situated near a busy street and there is some street noise during the night.

  • Discovering beautiful Romania – Cathy from United Kingdom – June 11, 2025 (8/10)

Comfortable, quirky apartment.with interesting art etc. Well-equipped kitchen. Amazing value for money and a short walk from the lovely old town. Easy to reach by taxi from the airport. We received a warm welcome and given contact numbers to call if needed.

What could be improved: The shower was a little temperamental! Just a personal preference, but some longlife milk for the coffee pods and a couple of small bottles of water would have been very welcome as we arrived too late to go out anywhere. Happy to have paid for those provisions of course!

  • Great place! Would certainly book again! – Andrei from Cyprus – May 12, 2025 (10/10)

Great place with vintage traditional Romanian style. The couple that owns the place is living abroad, but the guy who helped us enter is SUPER professional and very nice person. Explained everything for us and gave us his recommendations about lifestyle in Romania and tips of where to get good traditional food. The property is located 5 minutes walking distance from the city center, which is super convenient as well. It has heating system that kept us warm during cold rainy nights and it general it was super cosy. 2 small beds in 1 bedroom + 1 double bed in main bedroom, is suffecient if you are traveling as a family or as a group of friends. Highly recommend it!

  • Wonderful – Valerio from Italy – December 27, 2024 (9/10)

Big apartment very close to the city centre.

What could be improved: Water not so hot in the shower.

    What could be improved: Nothing

  • Exceptional – Stefana from Romania – October 28, 2023 (10/10)

Very nice host, great location and value for the money! Everything you need is provided in the apartment and the host is very helpful.

  • 100% recommended, definitely we will return! – George from Greece – October 4, 2023 (10/10)

Fully equipped, beautifully decorated, central with access

  • Well equipped and styled apartment at perfect location – Guy from Israel – August 27, 2023 (9/10)

Perfect location, 10 minutes walking from the old city.
    Well equipped, and stylish.
Grocery store and taxi station within a few steps .

What could be improved: The whole hot water/ shower pressure needs to be refreshed, but the owner was honest to refund us on these failures.

The noise isolation at the master bedroom needs to be improved.

  • Exceptional – Andreea from Romania – October 3, 2022 (10/10)

Home like accomodation. Lot of natural light. Special athmosphere given by decoration (paintings, popular object, lamps, mirrors). All you need in the kitchen.
