When I first arrived at Central apartment- Shumi’s on Calea Moților, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect from this four-star apartment rental. But honestly, the moment Shumi greeted me at the door of this ninth-floor unit, I knew I’d made the right choice. The building itself is pretty typical for Cluj-Napoca — solid, unpretentious — but step inside apartment 9 and you’re in for a pleasant surprise.

The Space That Feels Like Home

This isn’t your typical cramped European rental, and I mean that in the best way possible. The room layouts are thoughtful, with enough space to actually unpack your suitcase without playing Tetris with the furniture. The kitchen is what really won me over though — fully equipped with everything you’d need for a proper meal, not just the token mini-fridge and kettle you usually get. I actually cooked dinner twice during my stay, which says something about how comfortable the space felt.

Location That Actually Works

You know what I love about Calea Moților? It’s close enough to the action but far enough from the weekend chaos of the Old Town. I could walk to the main square in about fifteen minutes, but when I wanted quiet evenings, the neighborhood delivered. There’s a decent restaurant just two blocks down — nothing fancy, but the kind of place where locals eat, which is always a good sign. Plus, street parking here is manageable, unlike the nightmare zones closer to the center.

The Details That Matter

Shumi clearly pays attention to the small stuff that most hosts miss. The WiFi actually works (I had video calls without issues), the shower has proper water pressure, and there are enough outlets near the bed for all your devices. The apartment stays surprisingly quiet for being on a main street — good windows make all the difference. I also appreciated having a washing machine, because let’s be honest, nobody packs enough clean clothes for a week-long trip.

With a 9.3 rating, this place clearly hits the mark for most visitors, and I get why. It’s that rare combination of practical comfort and genuine hospitality that makes you feel like you’re staying with a friend who actually cares about your experience. Shumi is responsive without being intrusive, and the apartment delivers exactly what it promises — no nasty surprises, no hidden disappointments. For Cluj-Napoca, especially if you want space to breathe and a proper base for exploring the city, this spot just works.

  Location is very good, it is a quiet place, wifi has good speed for home office work in case this is a need. Not a fancy place, but you got everything here you may expect to rest while visiting Cluj. The host did everything to make the stay comfortable, he was very helpful and generous.
  
  What could be improved: The outside needs a bit painting, refurbishment, plants, maybe some pebbles or old bricks, stone pathways in the courtyard for a better first impression, it is not about big money, just some attention for a bit more organised, esthetic enviroment, but sure it will follow…

  What could be improved: Two colleagues shared the apartment, no wardrobe or any thing for clothing in living room, bit basic, but still manageable for such a set-up. Personally I prefer ordinary table and chairs to the "bar style" seating in the apartment. Also not very bright. Still, for a business trip or sight seeing if you mostly need the place to sleep there, it is perfect, very good setting, close to centre, and parking opportunity inside the courtyard is a real bonus.
