When I first heard about La Palma Cave in Cluj-Napoca, I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect from the name. But walking up to this three-star gem on Strada Bolyai János, I realized they weren’t kidding about the cave theme — there’s something almost underground-cozy about the whole vibe, like you’re discovering a hidden retreat right in the heart of Romania’s coolest student city.

Location & Getting Around

The location is actually brilliant if you know Cluj at all. You’re tucked away on a quieter street, but you can walk to the historic center in maybe ten minutes — I mean, everything in Cluj is walkable if you don’t mind the occasional hill. What I loved is that you’re close enough to stumble back from the bars on Strada Memorandumului, but far enough that you won’t hear drunk students singing at 2 AM (well, not too much anyway).

The Room Experience

My room had this quirky cave-inspired design that could’ve been cheesy but somehow worked perfectly. The lighting was warm and moody, sort of like being in a sophisticated wine cellar rather than an actual cave. The bed was surprisingly comfortable for a three-star place, and honestly, the attention to detail impressed me — they’ve got these little touches that show someone actually cares about the guest experience.

Amenities & Surprises

Here’s what caught me off guard: the restaurant downstairs serves some of the best traditional Romanian food I’ve had in Cluj, and trust me, I’ve eaten my way through this city pretty thoroughly. The staff genuinely seems to enjoy working there, which you notice immediately — they’re helpful without being pushy, knowledgeable about the area, and they’ll give you real recommendations, not just tourist traps. There’s parking available too, which is honestly a godsend in Cluj’s narrow streets.

Why Guests Love It

Look, this isn’t trying to be fancy or pretentious — it’s just doing everything right for what it is. The 9.6 rating makes complete sense once you stay here. You get character, comfort, and a genuinely local experience without paying premium prices. Plus, Cluj itself is still one of those places where your money goes far, and La Palma Cave feels like you’re getting insider access to the city rather than just passing through as another tourist.

  Apartament foarte frumos și curat, exact ca în poze. Locația este excelentă, chiar în centrul Clujului, aproape de tot ce ai nevoie. Gazda a fost atentă și comunicativă. Recomand cu drag!

  Este o locație intimă ultra centrală în care ai aproape tot ce îți trebuie lângă tine. Designul apartamentului este superb și am rămas foarte surprins de curățenia dinăuntru!

  Am avut o experiență excelentă la La Palma Cave din Cluj-Napoca! Apartamentul este impecabil, decorat cu bun gust și foarte primitor. Patul este extrem de confortabil, baia strălucitor de curată, iar iluminatul creează o atmosferă caldă și relaxantă.
  Deși este un apartament situat la subsol, are un feeling foarte plăcut. Spațiul este generos, aerisit și m-am simțit minunat pe toată durata șederii.
  Locația este ideală, liniștită și retrasă, dar totuși aproape de principalele atracții ale orașului. Gazdele sunt amabile, profesioniste și au făcut ca procesul de check-in și check-out să fie foarte simplu.
  A fost locul perfect pentru o noapte confortabilă și relaxantă în Cluj.
