First Impressions

When I first walked into New Transilvania, I’ll be honest — the sixth-floor location in what’s essentially an apartment building threw me off a bit. But you know what? That initial surprise quickly turned into appreciation once I realized what this four-star place actually offers. The views over Cluj-Napoca from up there are genuinely stunning, and there’s something refreshingly authentic about staying in a residential building rather than another cookie-cutter hotel.

The Space

This is technically an apartment setup, which means you get way more space than your typical hotel room. The kitchen is fully equipped — I mean, properly equipped with everything you’d need if you wanted to cook a proper meal. The layout feels like you’re staying in someone’s well-appointed home rather than a sterile hotel environment, and honestly, that makes all the difference when you’re in town for more than just a night or two.

Location Insights

Strada Dambovitei isn’t exactly in the heart of the old town, but that’s actually a good thing. You’re close enough to walk to the main attractions (maybe 15 minutes to Union Square), but you’re staying where locals actually live. There’s a great bakery just around the corner that most tourists never find, and the neighborhood has this lived-in charm that the tourist areas sometimes lack.

What Makes It Work

The attention to detail here really surprised me. Everything from the linens to the coffee setup feels thoughtfully chosen rather than just ordered from a hotel supply catalog. The parking situation is sorted — which, if you’ve tried to park in Cluj-Napoca’s center, you’ll know is worth its weight in gold. The hosts are incredibly responsive too, though they give you enough privacy to feel like you’re truly independent.

Why Guests Love It

With a 9.3 rating, this place clearly hits the mark for most people, and I can see why. It’s the kind of spot that works whether you’re here for business or leisure — you have the space to spread out, the restaurant options nearby are fantastic (there’s this little Romanian place two blocks down that locals swear by), and you feel connected to the real Cluj-Napoca rather than just passing through it. It’s not trying to be something it’s not, and that authenticity is exactly what makes it special.

  Un apartament foarte frumos, dotat cu tot ce trebuie la un pret avantajos,. Ne-a intampinat un domn foarte amabil care ne-a oferit informatii utile. Am uitat niste acte importante si desi nu erau la vedere a fost atent , ne-a sunat si le-am recuperat. Multumim si recomandam aceasta locatie usor accesibila si aproape de zona aeroportului si de mall si de zona FSEGA..
