Old town luxury in new building. Overview

First Impressions

Old town luxury in new building. might have one of the most honest names I’ve encountered in hospitality. Walking up to this apartment building on Strada Traian, you’d never guess what’s waiting inside — and that’s sort of the point. The exterior looks like any other modern residential block in Cluj-Napoca, but step through the entrance and you’re immediately hit with that “oh, this is different” feeling.

Location & Getting Around

Here’s what I love about the spot — you’re technically in the old town area, but on a quiet residential street that locals actually use. Strada Traian isn’t touristy at all, which means you get authentic glimpses of how people in Cluj really live. The main square is maybe a seven-minute walk, but honestly, I found myself taking longer routes just to explore the side streets. There’s a small grocery store two blocks down that saved me more than once when I needed snacks or forgotten essentials.

The Space

The four-star rating feels right — this isn’t trying to be fancy in an obvious way, but everything works exactly as it should. My room had this clean, minimalist setup that felt more like staying in a friend’s well-designed apartment than a hotel. The kitchen was actually functional (not just decorative), which made grabbing coffee in the morning or storing leftovers from dinner totally doable. I mean, when you’re staying somewhere for more than a couple nights, these details matter.

What Makes It Work

The building itself is new construction, so everything feels fresh — good water pressure, reliable wifi, windows that actually seal properly. But they’ve furnished it with pieces that have character, avoiding that sterile hotel feeling you get in chain properties. The whole setup feels thoughtful rather than rushed. You know what surprised me? The soundproofing between units is genuinely good. Even though it’s an apartment-style building, I rarely heard neighbors, which isn’t something I can say about a lot of places in Romania’s city centers.

Why Guests Keep Coming Back

With an 8.4 rating, this place clearly hits the sweet spot between comfort and authenticity that’s honestly hard to find in Cluj. You’re not paying for marble lobbies or concierge services you don’t need — you’re getting a really solid base for exploring the city. The value proposition makes sense, especially if you’re planning to eat some meals in rather than dining out constantly. It’s the kind of place that works whether you’re here for business, weekend exploring, or just need a comfortable spot to decompress after long days wandering Cluj’s surprisingly hilly streets.

  • Great value – Chutharat from Thailand – May 3, 2025 (9/10)

just 7 mins walk to city center. Easy access with clear instructions (good idea for video) Very comfortable facilities all inclusive in the price (free parking). The new building has elevator that you don't need to carry the heavy stuff up stairs.

    What could be improved: Nothing

  • Wonderful – Roxana from Romania – June 2, 2024 (9/10)

Everything was nice and clean. We liked the accommodation.

What could be improved: A welcome sweet and some coffee would have been nice.

  • Very Good – Lau from Argentina – August 20, 2023 (8/10)

    Good choice !

  • Wonderful – Ronen_lena from Israel – June 21, 2023 (9/10)

Good value for the price, walking distance from the old city, clean and new apartment

What could be improved: There are cups for coffee, there are glasses for wine, there are no glasses for cold drinks, water.
Curtains in the living room it is better to replace to opaque curtains.

  • Very pleasant stay for several days when you need place to have a good rest – Benjamin from Bosnia and Herzegovina – May 29, 2023 (9/10)

Apartment is great, it also have free parking spot, very clean, comfortable and functional. About 15 minutes walking to the center.

What could be improved: Knives, glasses and cooking equipment could be better with small investment. Example: only one normal glass or others are for vine. In bathroom curtain would be better then the current glass.

  • very nice – Bernát from Hungary – May 5, 2023 (9/10)

Clean, lot of space. absolutely new.

What could be improved: not too much equipment in the kitchen for cooking.

  • A centrally located modern apartment in the heat of Cluj-Napoca – Michelle from United Kingdom – May 30, 2025 (9/10)

The property was centrally located between bus stop / train station and town. It is a lovely modern apartment in a modern building. The interiors have been thoughtfully decorated. The management of apartment were always responsive with communication. This apartment worked well as I was travelling with my son, so sofa bed and spacious apartment provided space for us both.

What could be improved: The property was very good no issues

  • Inexpensive, convenient location with a washer. – Mihai from Canada – April 5, 2024 (9/10)

The location was great, parking included(first come first serve) with first level floor which was convenient. Two beds with one private room was nice. The price was fantastic. Full size fridge, coffee maker and silverware/glassware stocked. We loved that there was a washing machine provided, with a drying rack. Clean towels and facilities.

What could be improved: The large bed in the living space seems to have some cracked boards underneath. It was sinking in the middle and quite noisy when my wife and I tossed or turned during the night. There was a coffee maker provided but we could not find a place to plug in besides the living room end table. The kitchen blinds seems to be missing a piece to slide to close, so it remains half open.

  • Good – Szilvia from Hungary – February 14, 2025 (7/10)

What could be improved: The mold was really bad in the bathroom.

  • Exceptional – Timea from Romania – February 9, 2025 (10/10)

    Spacious and quiet

What could be improved: The walls were a little bit dirty.
