When I first pulled up to Rodizio Hill Resort, I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect from the name — turns out it’s got nothing to do with Brazilian steakhouses. After spending time in Romania’s bustling tech hub, the contrast here is actually refreshing.

Location & Setting

The resort is positioned on Strada Nordului, which basically means you’re away from the city center but not completely isolated. I mean, you’ll need a car or taxi to get into Cluj-Napoca proper, but that’s sort of the point — this feels like a retreat. The surrounding area has this rolling hills vibe that makes you forget you’re still technically in an urban area. What I appreciated was having easy access to both nature walks and the city when I wanted it.

The Room Experience

My room was larger than I expected for a three-star place, with clean lines and that modern Romanian hotel aesthetic — think warm woods and neutral colors. The bathroom was spotless, which honestly matters more to me than fancy amenities. There’s something to be said for a place that gets the basics right, and the Wi-Fi actually worked well throughout the property (always a concern when you’re outside the city center).

Dining & Amenities

The on-site restaurant serves decent Romanian fare with some international options thrown in. I had their ciorbă de burtă one evening — not groundbreaking, but solid comfort food after a day of exploring. What really caught my attention was the outdoor terrace area where you can actually see the hills rolling away from Cluj-Napoca. The parking situation is straightforward too, which saves you the headache you’d face staying downtown.

  What could be improved: They didn’t have a mini fridge and someone stole us the milk we let outside our door for the night, due to the fact that we wanted to keep it cool.

  What could be improved: the gps is giving the location down on the road,i think that could be another publicity panel with the name of the place somewhere halfway on the road,when the people renting the room need to be specifying about any event they have on that period

  What could be improved: Lack of communication about breakfast & services (on the day of arrival), but this could be because we don’t speak Romanian. There was no hot tub / jacuzzi on site, despite being advertised.

  Beautiful modern hotel in the nature. Nice and clean rooms, availability of the swimming pool. Tasty breakfast. Amazing view at the city.
