First Impressions

Vila Siago sits right on Republicii Street in Cluj-Napoca, and honestly, I wasn’t expecting much from what looked like a modest building from the outside. But you know what? Sometimes the best places are the ones that don’t try to impress you with flashy facades. This three-star property has that authentic Romanian charm that’s becoming harder to find — it feels like stepping into someone’s well-maintained family home rather than a corporate hotel chain.

Location & Getting Around

The location is actually pretty brilliant once you get your bearings. You’re basically in the heart of Cluj’s historic center, which means you can walk to most of the city’s main attractions without breaking a sweat. The old town square is just a few minutes away, and there’s this great little café around the corner that locals frequent — I mean, you’ll know it by the queue of people speaking rapid Romanian over their morning coffee. Parking can be a bit tricky on this street, but the hotel staff knows all the tricks.

The Room Experience

My room was surprisingly spacious for what I’d expected from a three-star place. The décor has this sort of elegant simplicity — nothing too fancy, but everything feels thoughtfully chosen. The bed was comfortable enough that I actually overslept on my second morning (which never happens to me), and the bathroom had one of those rainfall showerheads that made me not want to leave. The windows face the street, so you get a bit of urban buzz, but it quiets down nicely in the evenings.

Dining & Amenities

There’s no on-site restaurant, which initially seemed like a drawback, but it actually works in your favor. The staff here knows every decent eatery within walking distance, and they’re not just giving you tourist traps — they genuinely care about where you eat. I ended up at this traditional Romanian place they recommended, and it was easily one of the best meals I had in the country. The hotel serves a continental breakfast that’s simple but fresh, with local pastries that pair perfectly with strong Romanian coffee.

  No contact check-in to the hotel meant I didnt worry about having to arrive at a given time.
  The Hotel was located roughly 10 mins walk from the old part of town and the area felt safe (as a women travelling alone).
  It was quiet, which meant I could sleep and work properly.
  Will hapilly stay there again.
  
  What could be improved: The only bin available was in the bathroom and it was small one. It quickly filled up. This is a minor point, and it does not change my review of a very good value for money.

  The bed was extremely comfortable, the room was clean and cozy, the internet was fast and the big screen smart tv was a nice surprise.

  Loved how cozy the entire villa felt, the beds were sooo comfortable, and the room itself was very pretty and nicely decorated. We also had a good breakfast tailored to our preferences and were able to prepare coffee and tea all day long in the breakfast room. Location is great, right next to the botanical garden, and very quiet, although it’s on a busy road.
  
  What could be improved: Didnt like that the entire bathroom filled with water whenever we took a shower, and also you should know the property is on a steep hilly street, so keep that in mind if you come carrying heaving luggage.

  Easy and contactless check in/out, free coffee anytime (very welcome at our very early departure), clean and comfy rooms, very good location. We did not try the breakfast as we left early.
