Volotel SkyWay sits right on Strada Traian Vuia, and honestly, the location caught me off guard in the best way possible. This four-star spot isn’t tucked away in some generic hotel district — it’s actually positioned where you can feel the pulse of Cluj-Napoca without being overwhelmed by tourist crowds. The building itself has this modern, clean-lined look that doesn’t try too hard to impress, which I appreciated.

Location & Getting Around

Here’s what I really liked about staying here — you’re close enough to the city center that a taxi ride won’t break the bank, but far enough out that you get a genuine sense of how locals live. The area around Strada Traian Vuia has this mix of residential buildings and small businesses that feels authentically Romanian. Plus, there’s decent parking available, which anyone who’s driven through European city centers will tell you is no small thing.

The Room Experience

My room was what I’d call thoughtfully designed — not flashy, but everything worked exactly as it should. The bed was properly comfortable (sometimes you wonder with newer hotels), and the bathroom had good water pressure, which honestly matters more than fancy marble. What struck me most was how quiet it stayed at night, even though you’re not in the middle of nowhere. The Wi-Fi actually delivered the speeds they promised, too.

Dining & Amenities

The restaurant downstairs serves solid Romanian dishes alongside international options, and I mean that as genuine praise — sometimes hotel restaurants play it so safe that everything tastes like nothing. Here, they seemed confident enough in their choices to let flavors actually come through. The staff knew their way around both the local specialties and dietary restrictions without making a big production of it.

  Great little hotel if you have a late arrival or early departure from the airport. Very clean and obviously quite new. Very comfortable bed and a decent breakfast available. It is walking distance from the airport. Turn right out of the airport and walk straight until you reach the park and ride place. The hotel is just a little bit further on the other side of the road. In the morning the man on reception was very helpful.
  
  What could be improved: The only problem I had was that there were no staff when I arrived (you're given instructions for key codes etc) and there were some tricky stairs to negotiate (for me anyway) with your luggage. Luckily a nice German man arrived at the same time as me and kindly offered to carry my suitcase up the stairs. It wouldn't be a problem for everyone but just to be forewarned.

  What could be improved: The key card and airco controlers are very strongly lit the whole night. I suggest they find some way to cover them. I am a sensitieve sleeper, so for me this is reason enough to never book there again.
