Ferdinand Art Studio Overview
First Impressions
Ferdinand Art Studio sits on one of Cluj-Napoca’s most charming streets, and honestly, you might walk right past it if you’re not paying attention. The building has this understated elegance — it’s clearly been renovated with care, but it doesn’t scream for attention like some places do. What caught my eye immediately was the name itself, which hints at something more creative than your typical hotel experience.
The Artistic Touch
This three-star property takes its art theme seriously, and I mean that in the best way. The walls showcase work from local Romanian artists, and it actually changes periodically — so if you’re a repeat visitor, you’ll see something new. The lobby doubles as a mini gallery space, which sounds pretentious but really isn’t. It’s just… nice to look at while you’re checking in or waiting for someone. Each floor has a different artistic theme, and the owners clearly put thought into curating pieces that complement rather than overwhelm the space.
The Room Experience
My room was compact but cleverly designed — these old buildings don’t give you massive spaces, but Ferdinand Art Studio works with what it has. The furniture is modern without being stark, and there’s always some local artwork that makes you feel like you’re staying somewhere with personality. The bathroom was renovated recently (you can tell), and while it’s not huge, everything works properly. The Wi-Fi is solid, which matters more than people admit when choosing where to stay.
Location and Neighborhood
Strada Regele Ferdinand is actually one of those streets that locals use but tourists often miss — which works in your favor. You’re walking distance to the main square and all the usual Cluj attractions, but you’re not dealing with the noise and chaos that comes with staying right in the thick of things. There’s a decent restaurant two blocks down that does traditional Romanian food without the tourist markup, and several cafes within easy reach if you need your morning coffee fix.
Why Guests Love It
The 9.1 rating makes sense once you’ve stayed here. It’s not trying to be something it’s not — this isn’t a place with a fancy spa or elaborate breakfast buffet. Instead, it focuses on being genuinely comfortable and interesting. The staff actually knows the neighborhood and can point you toward places that guidebooks miss. For the price point, you’re getting clean, well-designed accommodation with character, plus you’re supporting local artists in a small way. If you want cookie-cutter hotel efficiency, look elsewhere. But if you appreciate staying somewhere with a bit of soul, Ferdinand Art Studio delivers exactly that.

Had an amazing time at this lovely place. Extremely cozy and intimate. Loved the design, the little garden outside, the location, everything really. It was very clean, the owner was very open to communication and even helped me get an early check-in. All in all, I am very satisfied, totally recommend it and I for sure, will go back.
Exceptional – Dag from Norway – January 3, 2024 (10/10)
Great location, nice little place.
What could be improved: NothingGreat place for someone agile 🙂 – Jens from Denmark – October 14, 2024 (8/10)
Super central. Very well renovated to a high standard. Very good utilization of a small space. Nice outdoor table on the balcony. Super easy check-in/out. Great privacy.
What could be improved: The bed is on a mezzanine with only 140cm ceiling height and access by a ladder. There is nothing wrong with that per se and it is clear also when booking, but being a mature person it would probably not be my first choice. Someone a bit more agile than I would not find that an issue. No microwave oven, but it would be hard to find a space for it.Wonderful – Maxine from United Kingdom – November 17, 2023 (9/10)
Great location. Very central yet still quiet at night. It's very small but perfectly formed and has everything you need.
Great place for a short stay in the city center – Kristina from Romania – March 15, 2025 (7/10)
The location is great, right at the city center. There’s all you need for a short stay.
What could be improved: These were not major things for us but some may find it problematic:
– There is no noise canceling, we could here the alarm going from some other property
– There is no outside light or at least there wasn’t when we came, when you come back in the evening it was not comfortable to open the door.perfect – Anonymous from Romania – October 5, 2023 (10/10)
everything
What could be improved: no objections whatsoeverMükemmel.mel konum ve temiz, kullanışlı – Aydin from Turkey – September 20, 2025 (9/10)
Temiz ve her imkan vardı. Merkezi konumda,
What could be improved: Bina olarak çok eski ve bakimsiz
