First Impressions
When I first stumbled upon Cabana din padurea Belis si casuta din copac, I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect — the name literally translates to “cabin in Belis forest and treehouse,” which honestly sounds like something out of a fairy tale. But driving through the winding roads about 40 minutes from Cluj-Napoca, you realize this four-star property is the real deal. The forest setting is so peaceful that the first thing you notice isn’t even the accommodations — it’s the complete silence, broken only by birds and the occasional rustle of leaves.
The Accommodations
The property offers two distinct experiences, and I mean completely different vibes. The forest cabin feels like a cozy mountain retreat with proper amenities — think rustic charm but with modern comfort, including a fully equipped kitchen that actually makes you want to cook. Then there’s the treehouse, which is exactly what it sounds like and probably the reason most people book this place. The treehouse room isn’t huge, but waking up literally among the tree branches is something you don’t forget. Both options are well-maintained and surprisingly comfortable for what could easily feel gimmicky.
Location and Activities
You’re basically in the middle of Beliș-Fântânele area, which is perfect if you’re planning to explore the Apuseni Mountains or visit the nearby Beliș Lake. The location works especially well as a base for hiking — there are trails that start practically from your doorstep. What I really appreciated is that you get this remote forest experience without being completely cut off from civilization. There’s decent cell coverage, and the hosts are genuinely helpful with local recommendations that you won’t find in typical guidebooks.
The Experience
Honestly, this isn’t your typical hotel stay — it’s more like glamping with actual walls and proper plumbing. The property has this DIY adventure feel that somehow doesn’t sacrifice comfort. There’s parking right on-site, which is crucial since you’ll definitely need a car to get here and explore the area. The hosts clearly put thought into the details — from the wood-burning stove in the cabin to the surprisingly good Wi-Fi throughout the property. It’s the kind of place where you end up staying an extra night just because leaving feels premature.
Why Guests Love It
The 9.5 rating makes perfect sense once you spend a night here. This property delivers on its promise of a unique forest experience without the usual compromises you’d expect. The treehouse particularly appeals to couples looking for something memorable — I mean, how often do you get to sleep in an actual treehouse as an adult? The cabin works better for families or groups who need more space and cooking facilities. Either way, you’re getting an experience that’s genuinely different from standard accommodations, set in some of Romania’s most beautiful natural scenery.
