This four-star property occupies a restored building that feels more like a thoughtfully converted home than your typical business hotel — there’s character in the old bones of the place that you just don’t find in newer constructions.

You know what I love about staying here? You’re literally steps from Babeș-Bolyai University, which means the streets buzz with energy during the academic year. The cafes around here actually stay open late, and you’ll find some of the city’s best coffee spots within a two-minute walk. Plus, the old town center is close enough that you can wander over for dinner without needing a taxi or stressing about public transport.

Room Experience

The room I stayed in had this nice balance — modern fixtures but with touches that reminded you this wasn’t some cookie-cutter chain hotel. The bathroom was compact but well-designed, and I appreciated that they’d invested in good water pressure (something you don’t always get in older Romanian buildings). Storage space was adequate, though if you’re the type who travels with three suitcases, you might feel a bit cramped.

Daily Rhythms

Breakfast happens in a cozy space that feels more like someone’s dining room than a hotel buffet area. It’s nothing fancy — Romanian staples, decent coffee, fresh bread — but it sets you up well for exploring the city. The staff here actually seems to remember guests’ names, which is refreshing. I mean, it’s a smaller place, so that personal touch comes naturally rather than feeling forced.

Casa Silvia works because it doesn’t try to be something it’s not. You’re getting solid comfort in a great Cluj-Napoca location without paying premium prices for amenities you probably won’t use anyway. The building has character, the neighborhood has life, and you can walk to most places worth seeing in the city center.   The location is perfect if you have business in the center. It has a parking space in the yard and the small space is really cleverly used.
  
  What could be improved: The place was not properly cleaned before our arrival. There was a lot of hair in the shower and the bed did not give the impression that it was fresh.
