Tiny Transylvania, Rising high above Cluj-Napoca Overview
First Impressions
Tiny Transylvania sits perched on the hills overlooking Cluj-Napoca like something out of a fairytale — and I mean that in the best way possible. The name might sound quirky, but this four-star gem actually delivers one of the most memorable stays I’ve had in Romania. You know what strikes you first? The panoramic views that stretch across the entire Transylvanian plateau, especially at sunset when the whole valley turns golden.
The Setting
Getting up here requires a bit of a drive from the city center, but honestly, that’s part of the charm. You’re essentially staying in the countryside while still being close enough to Cluj’s buzzing student quarter and historic center. The surrounding landscape feels properly Transylvanian — rolling hills, scattered villages, and yeah, you can almost imagine Dracula’s castle somewhere in the distance (though that’s actually way south of here).
The Room Experience
My room was compact but thoughtfully designed, with floor-to-ceiling windows that made the space feel much larger than it actually was. The furnishings have this modern-rustic thing going on — clean lines mixed with warm wood accents that nod to the local aesthetic. What I loved most was waking up to those views every morning; there’s something about seeing the mist roll over the hills that makes you forget you’re checking emails on your phone.
Dining and Atmosphere
The on-site restaurant focuses heavily on Transylvanian cuisine, which means hearty dishes that actually make sense when you’re surrounded by all this countryside. I tried their take on ciorbă de burtă (tripe soup) — normally not my thing, but theirs was surprisingly refined. The dining area extends onto a terrace where you can eat while taking in those same sweeping views, and honestly, it transforms even a simple breakfast into something special.
Why Guests Love It
Look, this isn’t your typical city hotel experience, and that’s exactly the point. The 9.6 rating makes perfect sense once you realize what Tiny Transylvania is actually offering — it’s like staying in a well-appointed mountain retreat that happens to have professional service and proper amenities. The staff genuinely seems to enjoy working here, which shows in the little details like remembering your coffee preferences or suggesting the best hiking trails nearby. If you want to experience Transylvania beyond Cluj’s urban buzz while still having a comfortable base, this place gets it right.

Reviews of Tiny Transylvania, Rising high above Cluj-Napoca
Was really nice location and area. Note: read well the reservation message as it is not very obvious the exact, if you a – Nicoleta from Romania – August 14, 2025 (9/10)
More spacious than expected, quite comfortable, clean, nice outdoor space, quiet.
What could be improved: The outdoor chairs are not very comfortable.
Just a note: the unpaved road is about 3km, was not an issue for us but it may be for a smaller car.The location, the cosy houses, the calmness, it’s perfection. – Orsolya-brigitta from Romania – September 22, 2024 (10/10)

Everything was perfect! Beautiful, well equipped, clean, cosy tiny cabin, 15 min drive from the city, in a very calm environment, near the woods. A great place to escape and relax comfortably in nature or for a base to do touristy things. Grill, fireplace for the evenings, coffee sitting on the garden swing in the morning…and dog friendly. Dog bowls were available ☺️
Exceptional – Radu from Romania – August 16, 2023 (10/10)
Wonderful tiny house, we've lacked nothing over the 5 days we spent there. The courtyard is so calming and one could spend hours by the green grass and the cradle.
The host is kind and there were quite a few little surprises that made the property welcoming and accommodating.
What could be improved: The last bit of road to the property is not paved but it's manageable even with smaller cars. This is not property's fault and the information is available on the internet beforehand.A great place to escape with a nice touch – Robert from Romania – August 16, 2023 (10/10)
The property is amazing for an escape from the noise of the city and to connect with the nature, quietness and just chilling.
It had everything you could think of, it's amazing how may things could get into such a small place and how well they are organized. It even includes a dishwasher which was more than welcome.
So you can just get there, unpack and relax or start barbequing right away. Or you can visit the surroundings which are astounding.
Will definitely visit again, as it greatly exceeded our expectations.
What could be improved: None in particular.Exceptional – Delia from Germany – April 30, 2023 (10/10)
Excellent location. The tiny house has all the confort of a hotel room plus the natural surroundings.
We will visit this place again for sure – Erik from Romania – October 11, 2023 (10/10)
We liked how the whole area was laid out, the tiny houses' design and facilities. The kitchenette was very helpful in cooking some simple dishes.
There was a small barbecue area, but since it was cold outside, we didn't use it. However, I believe that in the summer, the garden near the tiny house is a big plus, especially for those who come with a dog.
What could be improved: Before reaching the destination, the road is quite bad and full of potholes. However, considering the accommodation experience, I think it's worth it.
