First Impressions

Central Chic sits on a quiet side street in Cluj-Napoca, and honestly, you might walk right past it if you’re not paying attention. The entrance is understated in that European way — no flashy signage or doormen, just a sleek glass front that hints at what’s inside. I actually appreciated this approach after staying at some of the more ostentatious places in the city center.

Location & Neighborhood

You know what’s great about Strada Bolyai János? It’s close enough to the main square that you can walk there in about eight minutes, but far enough away that you’re not dealing with the weekend party crowds stumbling around at 2 AM. The street itself has this nice residential feel — you’ll see locals heading to the corner bakery in the morning, and there’s a small park just around the corner where people walk their dogs.

The Room Experience

The room I stayed in was what I’d call smart modern — clean lines, neutral colors, but with these little touches that show someone actually thought about how people use hotel rooms. The lighting actually works for reading (revolutionary, I know), and there’s enough parking space for your stuff without feeling cluttered. The bathroom was compact but well-designed, with a rainfall shower that had proper water pressure.

Dining & Amenities

There isn’t a full restaurant on-site, but they do serve breakfast in this bright little space on the ground floor. It’s more of a continental setup — fresh pastries, local cheeses, good coffee — nothing fancy but everything tastes like it came from actual local suppliers rather than some industrial food service. The staff mentioned a few neighborhood spots for dinner, and their recommendations were spot-on.

Why Guests Love It

This four-star place has managed something tricky — it feels boutique without being pretentious. The 9.5 rating makes sense when you consider that they’ve nailed the basics while adding just enough personality to make it memorable. It’s the kind of place where the front desk staff remembers your name by day two, and you get the sense that they actually want you to have a good time in their city. For Cluj-Napoca, which is still finding its footing as a tourist destination, Central Chic represents exactly what travelers are looking for — authenticity without sacrificing comfort.

  The location is great, very close to Piata Unirii. Communication with the host is also good, with contactless check-in and checkout via code at any hour, which helped us since we arrived late at night from the airport. There is a 24-hour large supermarket 3 minutes walk away, and you also have a microwave, fridge + a clothes iron that I don't think were mentioned in the description.
  
  The apartment seems recently renovated with the help of an architect, it's clean and has a nice vibe. We enjoyed staying in it.
  
  What could be improved: The bathroom is built within the living room which looks cool but as a side effect, it only has a ventilator and no outside window. This leads to a damp smell in the bathroom – not too bad, but noticeable. I recommend the host put some room perfume in the bathroom to improve this.
  
  Also, a quick printed paper/post around WIFI access and general facilities would have helped guide us – we arrived late and couldn't figure out the WIFI until the next morning when we got in touch with the host.

  Self check in extrem de facil. Am primit in dimineata primei zile de cazare instructiuni pe WhatsApp pentru cum sa accesam apartamentul si a fost foarte usor.
  
  Apartamentul este decorat cu bun gust, amplasat excelent si ne-a oferit tot ce ne-a trebuit. Am dormit foarte bine, am avut apa calda imediat la orice ora, toate bune!

  La situation en plein coeur de la ville, mais zone piétonnière très calme de jour comme de nuit.
  Très propre, à part une paire de chaussettes d'enfant trouvée dans la chambre à coucher.

  Le premier jour, chauffage défaillant, mais le propriétaire est venu rapidement rétablir le chauffage.
  En revanche, nous avions besoin d'une information à la fin de notre séjour. Nous avons appelé plusieurs fois, envoyé des sms, mais jamais de réponse. Décevant.
