First Impressions

Walking up to DD Apartments on Strada Dunării, you immediately get that “local neighborhood” vibe rather than touristy hotel feel. It’s tucked into a residential area that feels authentically Cluj-Napoca — you know, where actual people live and work. The building itself is modern but not flashy, which honestly works better than some of the over-the-top places I’ve stayed at.

The Neighborhood

Here’s what I really appreciated about the location — you’re close enough to the action but far enough away that you’re not dealing with drunk groups stumbling past your window at 2 AM. The street is quiet, lined with trees, and there’s something nice about staying where locals actually choose to live. I found a decent restaurant just a few blocks away that served proper Romanian food, not the watered-down tourist stuff you get in the old town.

The Space

Each apartment feels like someone’s actual home rather than a sterile hotel room. Mine had a proper kitchen with everything I needed — not just a mini-fridge and microwave situation. The furniture was simple but comfortable, and honestly, after a day of walking around Cluj’s hills, I was just happy to have a real couch to collapse on. The Wi-Fi worked perfectly, which matters more than people admit.

Practical Stuff

The three-star rating is spot-on — this isn’t trying to be fancy, it’s trying to be functional, and it succeeds. Parking was straightforward, which if you’ve ever driven in Romanian cities, you’ll know is actually a big deal. The whole check-in process was smooth, and the staff knew enough English to handle my questionable Romanian without making it awkward for anyone involved.

Why Guests Love It

Look, DD Apartments isn’t going to wow you with marble lobbies or fancy amenities, but that’s not really the point. It’s clean, quiet, well-equipped, and gives you a genuine taste of living in Cluj rather than just visiting it. For the price point, you’re getting way more space and comfort than most hotel rooms would offer. Plus, there’s something satisfying about making your own coffee in the morning instead of waiting in line at some hotel breakfast buffet.

  Close to Iulius Mall. Great view over the lake and Iulius Park, a comfortable bed. 2 bedrooms and living room spacious.

  The apartment is very well located, close to Iulius Mall Cluj, with lots of shops, pharmacies, and easy access to public transport. It’s just 10 minutes by bus or taxi to both the airport and the city center. The place is clean and well-maintained, with everything you need: fresh towels and bed linen, shower gel, soap, slippers, espresso machine, and iron. The view over the lake is beautiful and relaxing. Highly recommended!

  It was a last minute booking, and all went smoothly. Communication is clear, access to the apartment is easy. The apartment is clean and comfy, in a quiet area and walking distance to a shopping mall. Would definitely book DD Apartments again

  Really close to where I had a meeting to attend and very very close to Iulius Mall! The view was pretty too although the balcony was narrow
