There’s a decent restaurant called Casa Boema just two blocks away that serves proper Romanian food — the kind of place you’d never find if you stayed closer to Union Square. The trams run frequently enough, and honestly, everything in Cluj is walkable if you don’t mind a bit of exercise.

The Room Experience

My room was larger than I expected — these older buildings sometimes surprise you with generous space. The bathroom was completely renovated (thank goodness), and the shower actually had decent pressure. The bed was comfortable enough, though the pillows were a bit soft for my taste. What I really appreciated was the blackout curtains — you can actually sleep in, which matters when you’ve been exploring Cluj’s surprisingly active nightlife.

Breakfast happens in a cozy dining area that feels more like someone’s extended living room than a hotel dining space. It’s nothing fancy — think fresh bread, local cheeses, decent coffee, and eggs prepared how you like them. The woman running breakfast (I think her name was Maria) remembers how you take your coffee after the second day, which is a nice touch. There’s parking available, though you’ll want to reserve a spot ahead of time since it’s limited.

  All was amazingly organised, including check-in/out. Breakfast was good, the location was central, but what excelled most was the staff, especially Alexandra, a great ambassador for the hotel and her country. I will come back soon, as I just loved the whole experience, and Cluj hopefully stays beautiful as it is.
