Echoes of Vlădicu Overview

First Impressions

I’ll be honest — when I first heard about Echoes of Vlădicu, I wasn’t sure what to expect from a hotel tucked away on Strada Johann Sebastian Bach. But stepping inside this four-star gem, you immediately understand why it’s earned such a stellar reputation. The name itself hints at something historical, and there’s definitely a sense that this place has stories to tell, though it’s been thoughtfully updated for modern travelers.

Location & Neighborhood

The location is actually pretty brilliant if you know Cluj-Napoca. Bach Street might sound fancy, but it’s in this quiet residential area where locals actually live — not just tourist central. You’re close enough to walk to the old town when you want that energy, but far enough away that you can actually sleep at night. I mean, there’s something refreshing about staying somewhere that doesn’t scream “tourist hotel” from every corner.

The Room Experience

The room I stayed in had this interesting blend of contemporary comfort with subtle nods to Romanian character. Nothing over-the-top, just thoughtful touches that make you feel like you’re somewhere specific, not just anywhere. The beds are properly comfortable — and I’m someone who usually struggles with hotel mattresses. There’s good natural light, which honestly makes such a difference when you’re trying to shake off travel fatigue or plan your day over coffee.

Dining & Amenities

What surprised me most was how well they handle the food situation. The restaurant doesn’t try to be everything to everyone, but what they do, they do well. Breakfast feels more like what a well-traveled Romanian friend might serve you than standard hotel fare. And you know what? The parking situation actually works, which in Cluj-Napoca is no small feat — trust me on this one.

Why Guests Love It

Here’s the thing about Echoes of Vlădicu — it gets the balance right between being professional and feeling personal. The staff clearly know their city and can point you toward things you wouldn’t find in guidebooks. It’s not trying to be the flashiest place in town, but it delivers on the fundamentals that actually matter when you’re traveling. Plus, that perfect 10 rating isn’t just numbers — you can feel it in how smoothly everything runs, from check-in to those small moments that can make or break a stay.

  • Brilliant place lovely people incredible views – Mark from United Kingdom – August 26, 2025 (9/10)

Incredible situation and bijou decor. Unbelievable bedroom. Also sauna, hot tub

What could be improved: The small kitchen area was unworkable unfortunately

  • Exceptional – Henthusiast from Denmark – July 11, 2025 (10/10)

This place needs to be experienced, rather than described in words. For anybody who appreciates historical architecture carefully combined with modern amenities, peace and quiet, and warm hospitality, I can highly recommend Echoes of Vladicu.

  • Exceptional – Eva from Spain – June 24, 2025 (10/10)

Awesome old architecture, with comtemporary comfort. Highly designed. If you cannot go to rural Maramures, these four cottages overlooking Cluj-Napoca city are fantastic.

  • Rustic and modern at the same time, houses preserved to keep the feel of the old, but modern comfort – Ben from Romania – June 1, 2025 (10/10)

Location feels pretty secluded and has a beautiful view over Cluj. Rustic houses and facilities with modern luxury amenities. Definitely will visit again at some point.

  • An unique stay. A traditional old Romanian village brought back to life in a designish way. You feel like spending the – Adina from Romania – April 24, 2025 (10/10)

The hospitality of the owner, the concept of turning old Romanian houses into BnBs. The attention to details. Perfect, thoughtful design.

What could be improved: I liked everything, worth staying more than one night.

  • Exceptional – Ionut from Romania – April 6, 2025 (10/10)

Excellent attention to details, design, comfort and visual landscape. Also great communication with the host.

  • Heavenly.🙏🏻 – Andrew from United Kingdom – April 5, 2025 (10/10)

The place was peaceful, very comfortable and clean and a fantastic sauna. Also we were welcomed with fantastic produce locally sourced.

  • Living in a modern fairy tale. – Valentin from Romania – November 2, 2024 (10/10)

The location is a masterpiece. In reality looks better than in the pictures and the experience of living there was just amazing. Like living a storry book.

I met the owner who told me the story of place , how they brought the whole household buildings from Maramures, reconstructed them in the curent location and redesigned all of them from their original purpouse into this beautifull mini resort with a wonderfull view of Cluj.

I loved the level of detail the people invested in the aestetics of the renovation , Adding new and modern facilities to an old and rural setting but keeping the rural seting experience and improving it , is hard and they excelled at it.

What could be improved: Its hard to find something faulty but if I have to nitpick something it would be adding a small stair step to enter the ciubar because I am a heavy type and I felt I almost broke the seating inside when entering and exiting the ciubar. That is all, The rest is perfect.
I recomend making functional the old radio with pick-up. It will add another layer to the experience.

  • Exceptional – Ioan from United Kingdom – October 8, 2024 (10/10)

Found the location by accident on internet, after looking for something for one night only in Cluj.
The place is surreal tbh, is incredible.
The owner, Ioana, moved piece by piece 4 houses from her native Maramures to Cluj.
The location is perfect, up on the hills with spectacular views over the city.
The bed was very very comfortable, the host was waiting for us with a drink of palinca, fresh eggs, fresh vegetables and slanina, all as a gift.
Wood jacuzzi and sauna included in the price.
I don't have enough words to appreciate this place.

What could be improved: Difficult to find, as recently open, but communication with owner took us there

  • Amazing location and friendly host – Emma from Romania – October 6, 2024 (10/10)

The location is amazing with a wonderful view over Cluj Napoca. The host was very nice and made sure we are feeling great at the accommodation.
