This four-star boutique property feels more like a well-kept secret than a typical hotel, tucked into a residential area that most tourists never discover. The entrance has this understated elegance that immediately tells you someone put real thought into the details here.

Location & Neighborhood

Here’s what I love about the location — you’re technically in Cluj-Napoca, but it feels like you’ve escaped the city buzz without actually leaving it. The Sanatoriului area is where locals go to breathe, with tree-lined streets and that quieter pace you don’t find in the historic center. You can walk to the main attractions in about 15 minutes, but more importantly, you’ll sleep without hearing traffic or late-night revelers outside your window.

The Room Experience

My room had this perfect balance — modern enough that everything worked flawlessly, but with character that you just don’t get in chain hotels. The beds are seriously comfortable (I mean, I actually slept in), and the bathrooms have those little touches that make you feel like someone cares about your experience. What really got me was the attention to lighting — they’ve figured out how to make you look good in the mirror, which sounds silly but makes your morning routine so much better.

Dining & Amenities

The restaurant surprised me — I wasn’t expecting much from a smaller property, but they’re doing something special with local ingredients. The chef seems to actually know the suppliers, which you can taste in everything from the morning eggs to the evening soup. There’s also this little spa area that’s perfect when you need to unwind after walking all over Cluj-Napoca’s cobblestones. And yes, parking is included, which anyone who’s tried to park in Romanian city centers will appreciate.

Why Guests Love It

Look, Elena Haus isn’t trying to be the flashiest place in town, and that’s exactly why it works so well. The staff knows your name by day two, the neighborhood gives you a real taste of how Cluj-Napoca actually lives, and everything just feels… right. With an 8.8 rating, you know other guests are picking up on the same vibe — this is the kind of place where you end up extending your stay just because leaving feels like a mistake.

  The location is at walking distance from the train station. Even closer is a bus stopping that goes to the centre. A small (and a bit further a big) supermarket can be found. Spacious rooms.
  
  What could be improved: Not so many things in the kitchen. I didn't find bowls or plates for breakfast and made my muesli in a mug. A rubber floor squeegee is missing in the bathroom to use after showering.

  Close to the main bus station in Cluj, clean housing and very nice host.

  What could be improved: The host was pretty intrusive (entered the apartement while we were on it, unannounced). Also, the space is not advertise!!! We didnt have a living room, the first photo was with the living room but it either wasnt there or the door was locked (we had 2 locked doors in the appartment). This is unforgivable for a listing of almost 600 euros for 1 week, to have false photos on booking.

  What could be improved: No podías cocinar. En nuestro caso solo fue una noche, pero en el desayuno la leche fría, no tenia microondas y no podías calentarla en el fuego, pero si vas a pasar unos dias días….
