Hotel Meridian Overview

First Impressions

Hotel Meridian sits on a busy stretch of Calea Turzii, but honestly, once you step inside, the street noise just fades away. The lobby has this modern, polished feel without being stuffy — sort of like they actually thought about what travelers want rather than just copying some generic hotel playbook. The staff greeted me in perfect English, which I appreciated since my Romanian is basically nonexistent.

Location & Getting Around

You know what I really liked about this spot? It’s far enough from Cluj-Napoca‘s tourist chaos but close enough that you can walk to the old town in about 15 minutes. Calea Turzii is one of those streets where locals actually live and work — there’s a decent supermarket nearby, and I found this little bakery two blocks down that had the best covrigi I’ve ever tasted. The parking situation is actually manageable here, unlike some places in the city center where you’re circling for ages.

The Room Experience

My room was on the third floor, and I mean, it felt properly spacious — not cramped like so many European hotels can be. The bed was firm (which I prefer), and they’d clearly invested in blackout curtains because I slept like a rock. The bathroom had this walk-in shower that actually had decent water pressure, and there were enough outlets near the desk for all my devices without having to unplug the lamp.

Dining & Amenities

The breakfast spread impressed me more than I expected from a four-star place. They had local cheeses, proper coffee (not just instant), and this Romanian omelet dish that I’d never tried before. The restaurant stays open for dinner too, and while I only ate there once, the paprikash was legitimately good — definitely made by someone who knows their way around Romanian cuisine. There’s also a small fitness area that’s nothing fancy but has the basics if you need to work off all that good food.

Why Guests Love It

Look, Hotel Meridian isn’t trying to be the flashiest place in Cluj-Napoca, and that’s exactly why it works. The 9.1 rating makes sense when you experience how smoothly everything runs — from check-in to housekeeping to the way they handle simple requests without making a big production of it. It’s the kind of place where business travelers feel comfortable but families don’t feel out of place either. You’re getting solid comfort in a city that’s becoming more popular with tourists but hasn’t quite figured out hospitality yet — this place has.

Cluj-Napoca’s hotels wrap guests in baroque architecture, Transylvanian touches, and concierge-curated wine tours.

Reviews of Hotel Meridian

  • Super! – Zico from Belgium – September 21, 2025 (9/10)

Nicely renewed hotel with nice Romanian style breakfast!

  • Wonderful – Florin from Australia – September 16, 2025 (9/10)

Was a perfect staying.Room is good and parking also available

What could be improved: A bit noisy when you face the main street

  • Wonderful – Silvia from Romania – July 1, 2025 (9/10)

The location, staff, room size, comfort, facilities and cleanliness

What could be improved: The loud noise from the street. It seems that the windows aren’t very efficient of canceling at least a bit of the noise from the traffic outside. Also, it would be useful to have insects nets during the summer in case one would like to leave the door/window open during night time

  • Decent stay, nice breakfast – Manuela from Romania – June 25, 2025 (9/10)

Ok location, good value for money, great breakfast

What could be improved: Warm water wqs not that warm in the evening and because of the location it was a bit noisy

  • Nice hotel – Alexandra from Romania – June 15, 2025 (10/10)

Nice and clean hotel. Good breakfast with many options.

  • Wonderful – Michael from Australia – May 20, 2025 (9/10)

  • Very comfortable international hotel – Abigail from United Kingdom – May 8, 2025 (9/10)

It was a friendly and very comfortable hotel. They had porters on through the night and as I arrived very late ( 3am) I was glad someone was there. Restaurant was very nice

  • Great stay – Karolina from Poland – May 8, 2025 (8/10)

We really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Meridian! From the moment we arrived, the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful—both at the reception desk and during breakfast. Our room was spacious and clean, with modern furniture, quality cosmetics, a kettle, and tea—everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The location is convenient, with parking available and just a 15–20 minute walk to the city centre and great restaurants. Breakfast was a highlight, offering a wide variety of choices, including delicious warm dishes like scrambled eggs, mushrooms, and fried cheese. We'd definitely stay here again!

  • Exceptional – Jozef from Slovakia – May 4, 2025 (10/10)

A very nice hotel, a short distance from the city centre. The rooms were nice, the balcony had a nice view. We loved the breakfast, especially the vegetarian/vegan options.

  • Very Good – Esra from Slovenia – April 28, 2025 (8/10)

It was very clean and comfortable.

What could be improved: Breakfast was very limited, very little variety. But the staff was very good.
