But stepping inside this four-star boutique hotel completely changed my perspective — there’s something refreshingly intimate about a place that feels more like a well-appointed home than a typical hotel. The staff genuinely remembered my name after the first day, which honestly doesn’t happen often in Cluj-Napoca.

Here’s what I love about this location — you’re tucked away from the tourist crowds but still close enough to walk to the old town in about fifteen minutes. The surrounding area has this authentic residential vibe where you’ll see locals heading to work in the morning, and there’s a small grocery store just around the corner that saved me more than once. It’s the kind of spot where you feel like you’re actually experiencing how people live here, not just passing through.

The Room Experience

My room was larger than I expected, with these lovely traditional touches mixed with modern amenities that actually work properly. The bed was genuinely comfortable — I’m picky about mattresses, and this one passed the test. What struck me most was the attention to detail: quality linens, decent water pressure, and windows that actually blocked out street noise. You know what’s rare? Having enough outlets near the bed and a desk that’s actually usable.

Breakfast and Dining

The breakfast here isn’t your typical hotel buffet situation, and that’s completely fine by me. They serve a proper Romanian breakfast with local ingredients — the bread comes from a nearby bakery, and you can taste the difference. I mean, it’s not elaborate, but everything feels fresh and thoughtfully prepared. There isn’t a full restaurant on-site, but honestly, you’re in Cluj-Napoca where amazing food is literally everywhere within walking distance.

  It had everything you need, including toiletries, clean towels and kitchenware. Everything was very clean and cozy. The host had left us a surprise in the fridge. After a long and tiring journey, when we entered the villa we were enchanted! The neighborhood was quiet and peaceful. We also had a beautiful view. Everything was at a very high level.

  Locatia este superba, splendida.
  O casuta cocheta, dotata cu tot ce ai nevoie.
  Locatia linistita, 2 locuri de parcare proprii.
  Bucataria foarte bine utilata.
  Baia foarte curata.
  Camerele mari, spatioase.
  Caldura la discretie.
  Locatia mi-a da o senzatie de ACASA.

  "Vila Gruia" s-a dovedit a fi o alegere excelentă pentru cazare. A fost liniște, confort și bucurie. Vila este mobilată cu mult bun gust, este dotată cu tot ce ți-ai putea dori (chiar te simți ca acasă!), are aer condiționat in ambele dormitoare și loc de parcare. Gazda este foarte amabilă și receptivă. Locația este deosebită. Fiind situată pe o colină, de la geamurile ei poți admira o parte din frumusețea orașului Cluj-Napoca.
  Recomand cu toată încrederea "Vila Gruia" pentru un sejur la Cluj!

  Die ruhige Lage und die Möglichkeit, das Fahrzeug auf dem eigenen Stellplatz zu parken, haben uns gut gefallen.
  
  What could be improved: Was wir schade fanden, dass die Küche extrem schlecht ausgestattet ist. Das ging aus der Beschreibung so nicht hervor. Die ruhige Lage in einem vor Ort bedeutet allerdings auch, dass der Weg in die Stadt zu Fuß sehr lang ist. (40 Minuten). Das hatten wir etwas unterschätzt. Aber das geht wohl auf unsere Kappe!
