Walking up to Central Luxury 1 on Strada Bolyai János, I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect from the name — but this four-star property surprised me right from the lobby. It’s got this clean, modern aesthetic that feels upscale without being stuffy, and you can tell they’ve put thought into the details. The staff greeted me in perfect English, which isn’t always a given in Cluj-Napoca, and check-in was refreshingly smooth.

Here’s what I love about this spot — you’re actually in the heart of Cluj without being stuck in tourist chaos. The pedestrian zone is maybe a three-minute walk, so you can easily hit up the main square or grab dinner at one of those great traditional Romanian places. I mean, you’re close enough to walk everywhere that matters, but far enough from the weekend party crowds that you’ll actually get some sleep. The tram stops nearby if you want to venture further out, though honestly, most of what you’ll want to see is walkable.

The Room Experience

My room was on the third floor, and I was impressed by how spacious it felt — these aren’t cramped European hotel boxes. The bed was genuinely comfortable (I’m picky about this), and the bathroom had a proper shower with good water pressure. What really got me was the attention to cleanliness and the little touches like quality toiletries and blackout curtains that actually work. The Wi-Fi was solid throughout my stay, which matters when you’re trying to plan your next day’s adventures.

Breakfast & Dining

The breakfast spread is where this place really shines for a four-star. It’s not just the usual continental stuff — they’ve got local specialties mixed in with international options, and everything tastes fresh. The coffee is actually decent, which you know can be hit-or-miss in hotels. There isn’t a full restaurant on-site for dinner, but honestly, with Cluj’s food scene right outside your door, that’s not really a problem.

  This was definitely the best of the 4 appartments we stayed in in Cluj. It is just off the Unirii square. The appartment was very well furnished and has a very comfortable bed and a modern bathroom with shower.
